This was a 43,885 square foot, two story building designed to replace the existing Varina Branch Library. The building's structural steel frame rests on a combination of cast-in-place concrete retaining walls and foundations. The exterior walls are a combination of veneer/cladding systems on light gauge steel stud assemblies connected to the steel frame. The roofs are a combination of low slope membrane roofs and steep sloped standing seam metal roofs. Site work included, but was not limited to, grading, utility, storm water, and landscape/ hardscape improvements as required to construct new vehicular access roads, parking areas, and a series of pedestrian-scaled spaces.
