For the second year in a row, Kenbridge Construction is proud to partner with local carpentry students from Central High School on a unique project that combines creativity, technical skills, and hands-on construction experience.
The project begins in the classroom, where students work together to brainstorm ideas and develop their own custom playhouse concepts. The students create hand-drawn sketches that capture their vision for the finished structure.
From there, the Kenbridge Construction team helps bring those ideas to life. Using the students’ sketches as a foundation, our professionals develop complete construction documents, including detailed floor plans, building elevations, and an interactive 3D model of each playhouse. This process allows students to see their ideas transformed into real construction plans and gives them the opportunity to visualize the finished product before construction even begins.
Once the designs are finalized, Kenbridge Construction purchases all the materials needed for the project, ensuring students have the resources necessary to build their creations. Throughout the construction process, experienced professionals from Kenbridge provide guidance and mentorship, helping students apply classroom concepts in a real-world setting while developing valuable trade skills.
The result is much more than a playhouse. Students gain firsthand experience in design, planning, problem-solving, teamwork, and construction practices that mirror those used throughout the industry every day.
After the playhouses are completed, they are auctioned to the public. All proceeds from the auction are reinvested directly back into the high school’s carpentry program, helping fund future projects, equipment, and educational opportunities for the next generation of skilled tradespeople.
At Kenbridge Construction, we believe in investing in the future of our industry and our community. This partnership provides students with meaningful hands-on experience while showcasing the rewarding opportunities available in the skilled trades.
We are honored to support this project for a second consecutive year and look forward to seeing the creativity, craftsmanship, and dedication these students bring to each new playhouse they build.
